CAMPERS ON TOUR

ROTORUA VERY POPULAR FINAL EXTRA EXPRESSES This Easter was a motor-camping holiday for many City people, who visited both North Auckland and South Auckland during the vacation. The majority of the tourists returned to the City on Monday evening and last evening, during which traffic on the Great South Road was particularly heavy. A big contingent of holiday campers spent the vacation at Rotorua, where fully 200 cars were assembled on the camping grounds. Many trippers visited North Auckland centres, while others spent the vacation at Waipoua Forest and at Coromandel Peninsula and Mercury Bay. Hundreds of visitors left the City and travellers returned by the extra expresses yesterday, which was the final day on which the Railway Department ran extra trains. The seating capacity of three Wellington expresses 3 r esterday morning was taxed to capacity. Both the Rotorua express from Auckland and an extra express to Rotorua in the afternoon were well filled with passengers, while the two expresses which arrived from Rotorua conveyed large numbers. The Whangarei express arrived last evening with a full load of passengers in 17 carriages. An express train with 16 carriages left for Wellington last evening in addition to the usual expresses.
