AUSTRALIANS HEARD EARLY By S p.m. in New Zealand it is /now possible in the combination sets to pick up all the main Australian stations on *lieir children or news sessions, at good loud-speaker strength, while later on in the evening, the volume from 2FC, 4QG and 2BL has lo be toned down by using the very smoothly acting volume control. By the time the_ New Zealand stations close down many B class stations are also available to listeners. The report of the Canadian Royal Commission on radio broadcasting, which was recently issued, recommends the ownership and operation of all broadcasting stations in Canada by a national company, on which three directors would represent the Dominion Government and nine the provincial Governments. The establishment of seven stations of 50 kw each and three stations of 5 kw each, at a total estimated installation cost of £645,000, is recommended.
