FIREMEN’S DEMONSTRATION
PRIZE-GIVING AT TAIHAPE From Our Own Correspondent TAIHAPE, Tuesday. The visiting firemen who competed at the United District Fire Brigades' demonstration, which concluded at 1 aihape yesterday, were entertained at a smoke concert last evening, when tlie trophies won at ’tlie demonstration were presented by the Mayor of Taihape, Mr. J. P. Aldridge. The prize-winners were as follow: Leipst Cup for brigade scoring the most points at demonstration: Carterton, 74 points. Low-pressure Shield, for brigade scoring the most points in the one, two and three-men events: Carterton, 38 points. Greathead Shield, for five-men motor event: Carterton. McMillan Shield, for five-men hose and hydrant event: Waipukurau. Memorial Shield, for tliree-mcn disabled event: Petone. Hastings Citizens’ Cup, for two-men hose and standpipe event: Marton. Prize money was divided as follows: Carterton, £3l: Waipukurau, £2O 13s; Petone, £l2 15s: Taihape, £l2 12s fid; Lower Ilutt, £6 17s fid; Daunevirke, £G 10s; Marton, £4; Masterton, 15s.
