MEETING OF MANAGEMENT SHORE’S APPEAL GOES FORWARD ! The weekly meeting of the A.F.A. Control Board was held last evening. ! Mr. Andrew Menzies presiding, and Mr. j L. J. Check acting as secretary in the absence of Mr. S. H. Massam. j Mr. P. Humphreys reported on the | lighting of the ground at BlanafcrG j Park. The chairman with Messrs. | Baker and Fraser were deputed to make all arrangements for lighting the * playing ''area for night games, • which will commence at an early date. • The question of names for new 1 clubs and amalgamations of old clubs j came up for consideration. The j house team of Abel’s Ltd. was admit- j ted to play as “Abel’s,” and the com- j bined clubs of Metropolitan-College j United, New Lynn-Bon Accord, and ! Birkenhead-Northcote were recom- f mended to choose and adopt a short name for future identification. The Takanini Club regretted being ! unable to enter a team for any com- ! petition, but offered to play friendly j matches with any clubs that have a bye ! on an off Saturday*. The offer was ! accepted with appreciation. It was decided that no season tickets issued to referees, members of the minor division, or others, but that 12 free passes be issued weekly for use among those formerly receiving season passes. The charges for admission to Blandford Park were fixed at the same rates as last year. The methods of raising funds to assist the schools and junior clubs was referred to the finance committee, to members of thetminor division committee to co-opt in drafting some scheme. NORTH SHORE’S APPEAL There was a large deputation from the North Shore Club in support of its appeal against relegation, and the standing orders were suspended in order that the question might be discussed from all angles. It was explained that the Board of Control was only carrying out what it interpreted as its duty under the relegation rule, and it could not reverse its decision in order to make Shore’s appeal unnecessary. The Shore delegates saw the club had not the slightest intention of defaulting, but would carry on where graded until the final decision was reached. This means that the Shore appeal will go forward to the New Zealand! Council, whose ruling will be final. MATCHES FOR SATURDAY Tramways v. Manurewa, 1.30 p.m., Blandford Park. * Ponsonby v.
