HEAT MARKS ON POLISHED WOOD

White marks on a polished surface caused by hot dishes, can be removed by applying a little olive oil and salt over the stains. This should be left for some time, then wiped away and polished. The marks will then have disappeared. SCRATCHES ON MARBLE Scratches on marble can be removed by rubbing with a little vinegar, taking care to wash with plain water as soon as the mark has vanished. This treatment will affect the polish to a certain extent, but good furniture cream well rubbed in will restore the surface. TO CLEANSE A SPONGE Squeeze the juice of a lemon into it and leave 24 hours. Then rinse in several waters.
