University Students in High Spirits

Tournament Ball is Bright Fu net ion LADY FOWLDS PRESENTS SHIELD rpHE students of the Auckland University and members of the visiting teams made merry last evening, the tournament ball proving a bright wind-up to the inter-university college tournament Held in Auckland during the Easter holidays. Scots Hall, which was gaily decorated for the occasion, was crowded with enthusias* tic young people who, as the evenir>g wore on, gave vent to their hilarious spirits in the various ’varsity barracking calls, songs and hakas. A profusion of ferns and flowers decorated the stage and the hall itself was hung with streamers in the colours of each university college in New Zealand. During the evening the shields won during the tournament were presented by Lady Fowlds. An excellent programme of gay dance numbers was provided by Waiter Smith’s orchestra. AAIONG THOSE PRESENT Lady Fowlds was gowned in black satin faille, with gold embroideries Alrs. Roc-ke O’Shea wore a frock of oriental patterned metal cloth. Mrs. Worley had on canton jade-green crepe de chine and georgette. Airs. Leys chose a very pretty gown of palest cyclamen lace. Mrs. Wilson’s gown was of black crepe de soie and she wore a cloth of silver wrap. Aliss Bourne was in rose pink and black ring velvet. Aliss Ruth Walker had on a very attractive frock of black lace, worn over pastel-tinted georgette. Aliss Doits Aliller was in a bouffant frock of flame taffeta. Aliss Jean Chambers chose a frock of pastel-tinted satin beaute. Aliss Nancy Chambers wore a pretty floral chiffon frock in pale cammellia pink. AJiss Isa Jessup wore an uneven-length frock of black taffeta. Aliss J. Wilson had on black georgette and embossed lace. Aliss Leslie Roberton’s bouffant frock was of coral pink flowered taffeta. Aliss Ruth Owen chose wistaria blue taffeta with large pink hip bow. » A quaintly becoming frock of powder blue brocaded faille, relieved with silver lace, was worn by Aliss Molly Hutchings. Aliss Fat Buddie was in a slim-fitting frock of opalescent sequins. Aliss Joan Hudson’s gown was of black and silver metal lace. Pale orchid taffeta fashioned Aliss Peggy Robertson's frock. Aliss Beach Hardie Neil wore a lace frock of soft mist blue. Aliss Jean AlcCormick was in a dahlia pink faille frock., Aliss Robertson wore deep plum coloured ring velvet and satin. Aliss Alarjorie Graham wore an orange coloured frock of satin. Aliss Jean Alacintosli was in a graceful frock of ciel blue georgette. Aliss Ruth Taylor was wearing a cammellia pink frilled taffeta frock. Aliss Joan Stirling was in a distinctive frock of citronne satin, with gracefully dipping skirt. Aliss Wilma Plummer chose japonica pink georgette, embroidered with silver beads. Aliss Joyce Porter was wearing a phlox pink georgette frock. An ankle-length gown of black ring velvet and tulle was worn by Aliss Olive Bickerton. Aliss Vera Knell had on a cammellia pink taffeta and georgette goAvn. Aliss Flora Robertson was wearing an ankle-length frock of dawn pink georgette, with petalled hem of taffeta. Aliss Evelyn Simpson’s pretty frock was of lido blue georgette and lace. Aliss Rhoda Robertson wore cameo pin-k georgette and taffeta, with petalled taffeta hemline. Aliss Alarjorie Suter’s ankle-length frock was of ivory taffeta. Aliss Alfreda Suter was smartly gowned in ivory lace, mounted on chiffon. Aliss B. Suter wore a bouffant taffeta gown of flame colour, inset with black not, and a short black net coatee. Aliss Pat Aliller was wearing a gown of rose embossed georgette. Aliss Ivy Underwood chose chartreuse green , taffeta and lace. Aliss Joyce Brownlie, Dunedin, wore a distinctive gown of deepest begonia satin, ankle-length all the way round. Aliss Joyce Jlbert’s satin frock .was of deep wine colour. Aliss Betty Hitchings wore an ankle-, length frock of forget-me-not blue taffeta. Aliss Joyce Alinns had on a gown of turquoise ring velvet and georgette. Aliss Alolly Cowan chose a dahlia pink georgette frock of ankle-length. Aliss Alarjorie Aleck was in a daffodil yellow lace frock. Aliss Lambourne chose pale primrose taffeta. Alias Evelyn Stubbs wore a blue flowered georgette frock with peacock bow at back. Aliss Scott, Dunedin, wore a floral georgette frock. Aliss Wann wore a bouffant frock of ivory taffeta with black and opalescent sequined motifs. Aliss Betty Keenan’s frock was of black chiffon velvet. Pretty daffodil crepe satin was chosen by Aliss Shenkin. Aliss Danglow was in honey-coloured georgette, with floral sash. Aliss Joyce Rowley was f rocked in cammellia pink georgette and taffeta. Ombre blue georgette fashioned the frock worn by Aliss Jean Foreman. Aliss F. Fraser was wearing a taffeta frock of sunset pink. Aliss Valerie Peacock chose a becoming gown of palest buttercup moire taffeta. Aliss Steele was wearing a chenille embossed gown of deep lido blue. Aliss K. Hackett’s frock was of nymph green satin beaute. Aliss Leslie Elliot wore phlox pink georgette. Aliss A. Hutchinson was in silver lacc* and ivory georgette.
