Tournament Ball is Bright Fu net ion LADY FOWLDS PRESENTS SHIELD rpHE students of the Auckland University and members of the visiting teams made merry last evening, the tournament ball proving a bright wind-up to the inter-university college tournament Held in Auckland during the Easter holidays. Scots Hall, which was gaily decorated for the occasion, was crowded with enthusias* tic young people who, as the evenir>g wore on, gave vent to their hilarious spirits in the various ’varsity barracking calls, songs and hakas. A profusion of ferns and flowers decorated the stage and the hall itself was hung with streamers in the colours of each university college in New Zealand. During the evening the shields won during the tournament were presented by Lady Fowlds. An excellent programme of gay dance numbers was provided by Waiter Smith’s orchestra. AAIONG THOSE PRESENT Lady Fowlds was gowned in black satin faille, with gold embroideries Alrs. Roc-ke O’Shea wore a frock of oriental patterned metal cloth. Mrs. Worley had on canton jade-green crepe de chine and georgette. Airs. Leys chose a very pretty gown of palest cyclamen lace. Mrs. Wilson’s gown was of black crepe de soie and she wore a cloth of silver wrap. Aliss Bourne was in rose pink and black ring velvet. Aliss Wilma Plummer chose japonica pink georgette, embroidered with silver beads. Aliss Joyce Porter was wearing a phlox pink georgette frock. An ankle-length gown of black ring velvet and tulle was worn by Aliss Olive Bickerton. Aliss Vera Knell had on a cammellia pink taffeta and georgette goAvn. Aliss Flora Robertson was wearing an ankle-length frock of dawn pink georgette, with petalled hem of taffeta. Aliss Evelyn Simpson’s pretty frock was of lido blue georgette and lace. Aliss Rhoda Robertson wore cameo pin-k georgette and taffeta, with petalled taffeta hemline. Aliss Alarjorie Suter’s ankle-length frock was of ivory taffeta.
