KAIKOHE WEDDING

FIRST TO BE CELEBRATED IN NEW CATHOLIC CHURCH GRIMSHAW—JACKSON The first wedding to take place in the new Kaikohe Catholic Church was of Ruth Agnes, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jackson, of Ivaikohe, and John Henry Grimsliaw, of Wainiatenni. The F"v. Father Bowen officiated at the cei \ lony, which took place on Easter Monday. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a frock of white satin beaute. Her silk net veil was arranged with a coronet of orange blossom and pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white flowers. Miss Mavis Amy Jackson was bridesmaid, and was gowned in an apricot silk georgette frock. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. F. Jackson as best man and Mr. H. X. Jackson was groomsman. Mrs. A. Jackson. mother of the bride, wore a frock of fawn wool crepe de chine with a hat to match.

VISITORS TO LEGAL CONFERENCE AND WIVES ENTERTAINED

SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON RECEPTION A most enjoya-ore reception was held in the Lewis Eady Hail yesterday afternoon for the lawyers and their wives who are visiting Auckland in connection with the third annual conference of the New Zealand Law Society which is taking place in Auckland this week. On behalf of the Auckland District Law Society the guests, who came from the various parts of the North and South Islands, were received by the president, Mr. R P. Tcwle, and Mrs. Towle. The hall was quite transformed with potted shrubs, palms and exquisite dahlia and chrysanthemum blooms, and a programme of music was supplied by an orchestra stationed in the gallery. A posy of flowers was given to those living outside the Auckland district —a happy little attention. Airs. Towle was wearing a frock of rose and brown patterned chiffon with brown hat to tone. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, was among tlic guests with Lady Myers, who was gowned in a smart black silk ensemble with ermine furs and a small black and white hat. EVENING WEDDING OF WIDE INTEREST

THREE MAIDS IN CAMEO PINK ATTEND BRIDE IN IVORY TULLE THOMAS—GRAYSON Wearing a beautiful bridal gown of ivory gjgorgette and tulle, Gladys Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Arthur Grayson, of Abbott’s Road, Mount Eden, was married to Ernest Deeble, youngest son of Mr. J. E. Thomas and the late Mrs. Thomas, of Mount Eden. Archdeacon Gordon Bell, of "Waikato, performed the ceremony, which was celebrated at the Church of the* Holy Sepulchre last evening. The bride, who entered the church on her father’s arm. wore her frock made with a tight-fitting sleeveless corsage and from a graduated waistline the -skirt of layers of ivory tulle and rose point lace fell to an uneven hemline. At the back and front of the corsage were bows of silver embroidered ribbon, the ends falling to the hem of the frock. Her beautiful veil of tulle bordered with brussels lace covered her face and was arranged on the head with a band of brussels lace and a circlet of orange blossom, over this, giving a cloudy effect, fell a long tulle train which was held in place at the end with ivory silk tassels. She carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. Aliss Patricia Grayson, Miss Daisy Grayson and Aliss Phyllis Dil worth attended the bride. They wore frocks in replica of cameo pink georgette with picot-edged uneven hems and large pink taffeta bows at the back of the waistline. Ornamenting one shoulder was a spray of pink and silver flowers. They wore juliette caps of gold lace and carried shower bouquets of pink flowers. Little Dorothy Thomas was flower girl and wore a dainty frock of shell pink georgette, with a frilled skirt and a pink poke bonnet. She carried a posy of pink flowers. Air. Dearnley Grayson carried out the duties of best man and Air. T. Gallaher and Air. E. Griffiths were groomsmen. Acting as ushers were Air. A. E. Edward's and Air. M. Rich--ards. , Airs. Grayson, mother ©f the bride, wore a burgundy red georgette frock panelled in embossed georgette in the same shade and a red felt hat trimmed with ospreys. She carried a posy of red and gold flowers.
