FAREWELL TO BYRD

OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD FUNCTION SILK FLAG FROM ADMIRAL Press Association DUNEDIN, Today. Admiral Byrd leaves for Wellington tomorrow. Members of the Otago Harbour Board called on him this morning to wish him au revoir. The Admiral presented to the board the silk American flag which was carried on the plane Floyd Bennett on the flight to the South Pole, and an autograph photograph inscribed “To the chairman and members of the Otago Harbour Board, who have done such inestimable things for our expedition.” The Chamber of Commerce also said farewell to Admiral Byrd on behalf of commercial interests.
