GIRL GUIDES’ CORNER

Silver Reflection, scribe of the Aralii Company, writes: - “The Arahi Company consists of four patrols of bright cheery guides—the Robin, the Wren, the Fuchsia and the Heather Patrols. Our captain, whom we have but lately welcomed to our ranks, is Mrs. Coutts, while our Lieutenant is Miss Carter. Our ties are canary-yellow in colour, and our meetings are held every Thursday at 6.45 p.m. at the Herne Bay Hall. “On March 27 a company party was given by the committee. The mothers of the Guides were invited and, after many jolly games and competitions, supper was served. The evening ended with songs and prayers. “On April 3 we again met and had a pleasant evening of games and group work, and on April 10 Captain explained about the new Imperial Headquarters in London and how the Guides of New Zealand are each contributing Is for a New Zealand room. A Guide (firstclass) was a welcome addition to our company.

“At the district swimming sports, Arahi was fortunate in winning the swimming cup. We are to go for a hike to Otimai on May 3.”

Green Wave reports from the All Saints’ Company, Ponsonby: “The company returned from the holidays in great spirits and with resolutions for a good year’s work. The number of the company is much the same as that of last year, for, although there are two or three of the older members who have left, several new recruits have been welcomed into our midst. There are two or three Guides, who are now working eagerly for their first-class badge and quite a number who are quickly passing their secondclass badge work.

“On Saturday, March 22, a number of the Guides from our company went to Milford for a hike. There were two parties, one that went in the morning and another which followed in the early afternoon. An enjoyable day was spent in swimming, games and secondclass work, and all returned home tired but happy after the outing.”
