ON TWO WHEELS

MOTOR-CYCLING FIXTURES April -7. —Beach meeting: of the Sports Club at Muriwai. Alav 10.—Championship hill climb of Sports Club at Mount Roskill. May 13. —General meeting of North. Shore Motor-cycle Club at Sutcliffe & Garage, Xorthcote. SEASON CLOSES CINDER TRACK RACING Auckland’s season or cinder track racing at Western Springs Stadium closed on "Wednesday with one of the best meetings that has ever been staged on this track, all competitors, whether A or B grade, riding like men of long experience. It was hard to realise that nearly every one of them j had never even seen a cinder track | until the stadium opened at the end of last year. Probably Die most consistent rider throughout the whole season has been Ben Bray, who, although not the champion of the track, can always be relied on to make the most of any event. Further, he suits his riding to his competitor, taking risks with an experienced man which he would, rightly, refuse with a less experienced rival. The programme brought to light a number of riders entirely new to the regular patrons, but whose performances give promise of fresh competitors who should take a prominent j place on the cinder track next season, j Western Springs is expected to open j again late in November or in early December. The lease with the City Council, which owns the ground, expires after next season and it is not known yet whether this will be renewed or the racing removed to another speedway, as yet only on paper, which may be built closer to the City.
