AIRPLANE FORCED DOWN
MACHINE SLIGHTLY DAMAGED Press Association DUNEDIN, Monday. A Simmonds-Spartan airplane owned by New Zealand Airways, Ltd., suffered some damage to its propeller and wings today when the pilot, Mr. McGoverne, found it necessary to make a forced landing in a rough field at Middlemarch. There was no passenger in the machine at the time, as the pilot was testing it. The pilot was not injured. It is stated that engine trouble was being encountered when the machine entered an air pocket.
