BUSY HOLIDAY
EASTER MONDAY EVENTS POPULAR Interesting points round Auckland were besieged by thousands yesterday. It was a good Easter Monday, after all, for people, who approve of jaunts. There is a delightful indecision when a mist falls over Auckland, and it was a wonderfully fine day instead of the alternative, a depressing day of heavy rain. Pleasure-craft fleets swarmed out of the Waitemata Harbour to the usual destinations in the Hauraki Gulf. The North Shore beaches were popular, too. Maungakiekie, Pupuke, Middlemore, Titirangi, Akarana and Glendowie golf links attracted huge numbers of golfers. At Ellerslie, it was a typical autumn racing scene. Fashions were flaunted gaily. The War Memorial Museum, the Zoological Park, the Waitakere Ranges and Titirangi particularly, and motor journeys from the City all won liberal patronage. Sports events, with University competitions and the Easter bowling tournament as the principal attractions, indicated a determined effort to retain the spirit of summer.
