DISCUSSION AT DARGAVILLE ALTERATION OF RULES From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Sunday. . The annual conference of the Auckland. District Fire Brigades’ Association was held in the Municipal Buildings, Dargaville, on Saturday evening. The president, Deputy-Superintendent b leming, of Thames, presided, and there were present delegates from Te Kuiti, Onehunga, Auckland City, Mount lUoskill, Whangarei, Takapuna, Devonport, Newmarket, Papatoetoe, Papakura, Dargaville, Thames, Taumarunui, Cambridge, Mount Eden, Te Aroha, Waihi, Otorohanga, Te Awamutu, Mammui brigades. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year:—President, Foreman J. Grant (Onehungaj; senior vice-president, Foreman Sarah (Taumarunui); junior vice-president, Foreman W. James (Whangarei;; treasurer, Secretary Osborne (Onehunga); secretary. Captain T. J. Wat s (Newmarket); auditors, P. H. Hollingsworth and J. A. Grey (Green Lane); trustees, Superintendent E. Follas (Devonport) and Foreman J. Williams (Mount Eden). The report of the executive indicated that the past year had been a successful one, and the balance sheet showed a credit balance of £B9 6s 3d, an increase of £7 19s Id upon that of the previous year. The conference adopted the following alterations and additions to rules made at the last United Fire Brigades Association conference: (a) That standard plans and specifications of a. suitable motor reel to be used at all future demonstrations be drawn up and made available to all brigades. (b) That the rope used on the extension ladder shall be one inch in circumference. <c) That the association shall suppD champion team medals. That the hose in the Gilberd Memorial event be coiled on the bight. After discussion the conference decided as a recommendation to the U.PUB.A. that in disabled hose competition events replace lengths should be placed in a standard motor box placed at a fixed position, the object being to make the running of such events more in accord with actual firefighting practice. Superintendent Honevcombe (Mouht Eden), raised the question as to tne position of brigades in respect ,0 medical fees, in the event of injury to members. The question was discussed and was decided to submit a recommendation to the W.F.8.A.. to the effect tna; the U.F.B.A. Accident Society should bring down a hospital scheme to P r0 * vide for such eventualities.
