PODMORE TO HANG FOR GARAGE MURDER HOME SECRETARY’S EDICT LONDON, Saturday. The Home Secretary, Mr. J. R. Clynes, has declined to advise interference with the death sentence passed on William Podmore for the murder of Mr. Vivian Messiter at Southampton. It concludes by stating that in Mr. Clynes’s mind there is not a scintilla of doubt of the prisoner’s guilt.
