BRITAIN PAYS £30,000,000 OVER SIX MONTHS STATE GIVES OVER HALF Reed. 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. Mr. J. H. Thomas, Minister in rharge ot unemployment, announces l hat schemes respecting works for the relief of unemployed for the six months ended March 31 last numbered 1,365, the estimated cost of which was £30,147,616. It is understood that Exchequer grants to the fund totalled £16,628,000.
