RACE TO COROMANDEL Starloch Avon the mullet bout division of the annual ocean race to Coromandel which started from Auckland on Thursday evening. June was placed first in the keel section and Ranui in the small boat event. Although the boats were sent away at 7.45 p.m., Brown’s Island was not passed until 9.30 by the leading boats, Starloch, Starlight, Omatere, ißakoa and Marie. They cleared Waiheke at midnight, the first boat, Starloch. reaching Coromandel at 4.58 a.m. on Friday. Yachts over 20ft, finishing times.— Starloch (scr), 4.58; Starlight, (2£m), 5.38; Marie (18m), 5.39; Mirage (27m), 5.41; Omatere (8m), 5.52; Rakoa (18m), 6.6; Doreen (33m), 6.40; Awatere (14m), 6.40.30. Result.—Starloch, 1; Mirage, 2; Marie, 3. Yachts under 20ft, finishing times.— Maratea (scr), 6; Ranui (11m), 6.5.20; Magic (scr), 6.28. Several other boats also finished very late but their times were not taken. Result.—Ranui, 1; Maratea, 2; Magic, 3. Keel Yachts. —Janet (14m), 5.43; Juno (48m), 5.49; Wairiki (20m behind scr), 6.37.30; Naiad (26m), 6.48. Result. —June, 1; Janet, 2; Naiad, 3. The annual regatta was held at Woolshed Bay on Saturday and attracted a large attendance. Over 40 yachts and launches were anchored in the bay and of that number 22 yachts started in the regatta. A light easterly breeze was experienced. The results were; Keel Yachts.—Wairiri went into-the lead and was first to finish. Finishing times were: Wairiki (scr), %.37.7; June (sm), 2.46.25; Iris (10m), 2.49.35; Dorothy (sm), retired. Result.- —Wairiki, 1; June, 2; Iris, 3. H, L and N Classes.—The finish was timed: Starloch, 2.51.25; Doreen, 2.59.25; Rakoa, 3.0.24; Marie, 3.0.25; Awatere, 3.1.3; Starlight, 3.4; Mirage, 3.4.1; Omatere, 3.9.40; Malua, 3.14.30. Result.—Doreen, 1; Starloch, 2; Rakoa, 3; Marie, 4. Yachts under 20ft.—A good start was effected in this race, but several of the boats were becalmed under Mussel Reef Point. The finishing times were: Ranui (3m), 2.1.54: Magic (sm), 2.4.1; Lancia (14m), 2.4.2; Atangatai (12m), 2.8.55; Maratea (scr), 2.9.31; Scud (sm), 2.23: Desdemona (sm), 2.25.25; Bungaree (10m), 2.26.10; Rival (18m). Result:—Lancia, 1; Atangatai, 2; Ranui, 3; Magic. 4.
