REMARKABLE ESCAPE
CAR CRASHES THROUGH BRIDGE A remarkable escape from serious injury was experienced by five people when the motor-car in which they were travelling ran off the new bridge across the Waikato, River, between Rangiriri and Mercer, and fell on its side on the river bank at about seven o’clock last evening. The dislocation of a shoulder was received by one of the passengers, Miss K. Marshall, of Captain Street, Onehunga, while the others escaped with minor cuts. The car xvas proceeding across the bridge Avlien the front Avheels deflected and before the driver could pull up, the car had smashed through the railing and plunged down on to the bank below. The passengers were able to release themselves and get out through the doors. They Avere taken to the hospital by a service-car and after treatment were able to go home
