DOCTRINE OF ATONEMENT

EVIDENCE OF DIVINE LOVE The “Doctrine of Atonement” was the subject of the lesson-sermon in First Church of Christ, Scientist, Auckland, yesterday. The golden text was from 11 Cor., v:17: “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Among the citations was the following from the Bible: “Now the Cod of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through tho blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ.” The lesson-sermon also included the following passage from the Christian ►science textbook: “We acknowledge Jesus atonement as the evidence of divine efficacious love, unfolding man’s unity with God through Christ Jesus the way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through truth, life and love as demonstrated by the Galilean prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death.”
