BRUTAL ASSAULT
WOMAN KICKED AND PUNCHED SIX MONTHS FOR ASSAILANT Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. A sentence of six months’ imprisonment for a brutal and inexplicable assault on a woman at Petone, was imposed on William Arthur Vivian, 24, by Mr. T. B. McNeill, S.M., in the Police Court today. It was stated that accused drove up in a motor-lorry to where the woman was standing on the street. He got out, grabbed her and punched and hit her about the face and body, and then knocked her into the gutter. The woman got free and screamed, and the accused made off. Accused said he could not understand it himself; he did not know what happened.
