LORRY STALLS ON LINE
STRUCK BY GOODS TRAIN TWO PEOPLE INJURED Press Association PALMERSTON N., Friday. A mixed train proceeding to Woodville at 10.15 this morning struck a motor-lorry which had stalled on the line at the Victoria Avenue crossing. Mr. Leonard Simmonds, the driver of the lorry, and Mr. C. N. Clausen, a member of the Borough Council, are in the hospital, the former with a broken arm and the latter with cuts aud bruises. The other passengers in the lorry, Mrs. Simmonds, Mr. and Mrs. Jessup and Miss Moana Clausen, escaped unhurt. The train was about 100 yards away when the lorry stalled. The train sounded a warning whistle, and was travelling very slowly when the crash occurred. The lorry was damaged considerably.
