AUCKLAND GUN CLUB

ANNUAL PICNIC HELD The annual picnic of the Auckland Gun Club was held yesterday, there being: a good attendance of members and visitors. Several matches were fired during the dav. Following were the results: The first match of 12 birds, for a rug presented by Air. C. Russell, drew 20 shooters. J. Donnelly, A. E. Altered ie, R. Turner, and W. Barrett tied with the possible. 36 points, and divided the sweepstake. The shootoff resulted in a win for Turner. The second match, of 12 birds, for a silver tea service presented by the club, resulted in a tie between AI. Pratt, J. Peterson, and P. Gallie, with the possible, 36 points. They divided the prize money, and shot oft for the trophy, Peterson winning. The third trophy match, also of 12 birds, drew 19 sTiooters, and also resulted in a tie between R. Turner, C. Seddon, and F. Seccombe, with the possible of 36 points. As R. Turner had already won a trophy, he was not eligible for the shoot-off, and Seddon was successful. The final sweepstake match of 12 birds saw five shooters —M. Pratt. W Barrett, J. Peterson, B. Hannigan, and C. Seddon —secure the possible and divide the stake money. Air. R. H. Bartley’s trophy, a handsome silver vase, was allotted to the best aggregate score on the day’s shooting. R. Turner and J. Peterson tied with 140 points out of a possible 144. Other shooters performing well were AT. Pratt and W. Barrett. 139 each; A. E. Alacredie and C. Seddon, 138: each; and F. Seccombe, 137. On shooting off for the trophy, Turner won on the second round.. Peterson missing his bird. A remarkable performance was put up by I’. Gallic, who was the only shooter to secure all his birds, but through the points system did not secure a trophy. F. E. AlcKeuzie, president of the club, presented the trophies to the winners, and congratulated the shooters generally on their performances.
