PROGRESS REPORT from Our Own Correspondent WAIHI, Thursday. The following information has beorx cabled to London:—For the fourweekly period ended April 5, 18,027 tons 0 f ore were crushed for a result of K,623 fine ounces of gold and 34,106 fine ounces of silver. This included 1,513 tons mined from the Grand Junction area, which yielded 999 ounces of gold and 17,659 ounces of silver; also 74 ounces of gold and 131 ounces of silver from residues from the oid Waihi mill site. No. 9 Level.—At 440 ft. east on the Martha Lode, we have crosscut to the south. The first foot is country rock, the next 4ft calcite, the next 4ft quartz assaying 37s a ton, and the last 7ft i:< a mixture of quartz and country, assaying 9s 3d a ton. No. 10 Level. —Martha Lode: At 100 ft. east of the boundary crosscut we have crosscut to the north, and measuring from the south wall, the first 30ft. is calcite, the next sft a mixture of quartz and country, assaying 6s 9d a ton. No. H Level. — Empire south wall, west of the BatJi crosscut, at 152 ft. south, part of the* Empire lode was intersected, the full width being 13ft of little or no value ; now driving west. Martha lode: West of Brook’s crosscut the first 33ft. of drivng is a mixture of quartz and country, assaying 7s a ton. No. 13 Level.—Martha Lode: East of Williams* south-east crosscut, at 23ft., there is lift, of roof exposed. No walls seen and assaying 59s 9d a ton. MILFORD AMUSEMENTS, LTD. I LOSS ON FIRST YEAR A loss of <£762 is shown in the first :mnuai report and balance sheet of the Milford Amusements Ltd., proprietors of “Ye Pirate Shippe Cabaret.” The directors attribute the loss largely to the abnormal weather conditions extending over the summer holiday period. That, combined with the general economic depression, had the effect of converting what should have been a profitable season into an unprofitable one. The directors are hopeful of better results next season, providing reasonably good weather conditions are experienced. The retiring director, Mr. L. Alderton, offers himself for re-election. The authorised capital of the company is £ 10,000 in £ 1 shares, of which H. are allotted and fully paid. Assets are shown in the balance sheet at t: 11.489. Revenue amounted to £5,554, of which £4,962 was derived from teas, suppers, dancing, sale of confectionery and tobacco, and special parties, and £572 from the hire of bathing sheds, chairs, umbrellas, canoes and the sale of sombrero hats. The chief expenditure .was in wages, £2,442, and purchases, £2,155. SUITABLE FOR DAIRYING SALE OF KEREPEEHI BLOCK That 22 sections of land in the Kerejeehi Block, varying from 47 to 76 ;cres, with capital values ranging from £IBO to £1.330 are for sale, is a recent announcement made by the Commissioner for Crown Land. The land is situated on the Hauraki Plains, immediately west of the Kere- . pee hi township, and comprises par-tially-drained swamp land of good quality, which would bo most suitable for dairying when improved. Several areas would already carry a few cows. The hind may be purchased for cash or on deferred payment, or lease conditions. and plans, giving full particulars, may be seen at the principal post offices. Written applications will be received up to May 2 at the District Lands and Survey Office, and up to May 5 at the Land Drainage Office at Kerepeehi. DEMAND FOR CHRYSLER STOCK PHENOMENAL RISE IN PRICES According to the latest American stock market quotations, Chrysler shares have risen »a value phenomenally since the Wall Street slump of late in 1929. This information is dated March I. the cablegrams since then announce a further general appreciation of industrials, so probably today’s actual quotation is in excess of 412- This remarkable appreciation indicates the public estimation of the Chrysler Company’s worth—not only of its assets and its earning power, but also of its standing as producers of automobiles. % TARANAKI DAIRYING INCREASED PRODUCTION From Our Own Correspondent NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. For the March supply of butter-fat the total amount paid out by 21 dairy companies with offices in New Plymouth is £60,144, compared with £60,478 for March, 1929. Payments a Pound varied from 9d to lid for butter and ranged about Is 2d and Is 3d for cheese. At several factories near New Plymouth the amount of butter-fat received increased almost 50 per cent. °n the quantity for March, 1929. This more than compensates for the lower_ Prices this year. SOUTH BRITISH INSURANCE COY. An interim dividend of Is 4d a share has been paid by the South British Insurance Company. Limited, for the half-year ended February 28, 1930. Last year an interim dividend of Is 3d a share was paid in April. The total distribution for the year was 2s "d a share, or 12 11-12 per cent, per •toum. SALES ON ’CHANGE &ales of Commercial Bank of Australia were made at 21s 8d just prior to closing up the Auckland ’Change this morning.
