AUTUMN AT ELLERSLIE

SMART RACEGOERS FORECAST THE WINTER MODE TWEEDS IN ALL MANNER OF GAY FLECKINGS PROVE THE FASHIONABLE WEAR j Tweeds, which have been so glorified i this season, predominated for fashionj able wear at Ellerslie Racecourse toj day, when the Auckland Racing Club’s j Autumn Meeting opened under overcast skies, with spells of sunshine. | These tweeds were to be seen in all colourings and colour combinations, and j although the brown and beigey tones j evidently retain first place in Madame’s 1 affections, there were many delightful suits and ensembles showing fleckings of bright blue, green, chrome yellow and vivid red. Many of the new hats, turned off the face and drooping at the back, were worn, and very becoming they were, too. Marvellous effects are being created by unusual folds, tucks and even gathers in our hat brims this season. Jewels, adding distinction to the ensemble. in almost -every case emphasised the foundation colour of the costume with which they were worn. ! AMOXG THOSE OX THE LAWN The Hon.
