LEAGUE PARLIAMENT

REMITS FOR ANNUAL MEETING FOSTERING THE CODE The secretary of the Xew Zealand Rugby League forwarded several remits which are to be brought before the annual meeting of the Xew Zealand League to the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening. The following were the remits, with the views of the Auckland body appended:— : “That a fund be established and maintained for fostering the league code in outside centres, and that a small percentage of gate takings of all affiliated leagues be earmarked for this purposes' From the Xorthland League, the Auckland delegates to oppose it. ' That three South Island selectors be appointed and select two teams from the West Coast, Otago and Canterj bury Leagues to appear at Christchurch in a possibles and probables match, and that these selectors select the South Island team of 15 players after that match to represent the South Island at Auckland in the South Island v. Xorth Island match/'—From the Otago League. Auckland delegates wejfe instructed to vote in favour of the remit. From the West Coast League: (1) "That, of his service to the code, on the West Coast, Air. James Thomas, now of Rotorua, be made a life member of the Xew Zealand Council.” The Auckland delegates to have a free hand. (2) "That the Xorth v. South Island match be played at Christchurch this year.”—Auckland to oppose this remit. (3) “That, if the proposed visit of the Kangaroos eventuates, the West Coast be included in the itinerary."— Auckland delegates were left with a free hand. (4) “That the council consider ways and means of adopting a better system for the selection of South Island teams.’—Auckland delegates left with a free hand. (5) “That the council considers making a grant toward this league’s ground improvement fund, if, and when, finances permit.”—Auckland delegates to support this remit.
