EASTER SHOOT HELD There was a very large attendance at Pakuranga yesterday at the Easter shoot of the club. Visiting sportsmen from all parts of New Zealand were the guests of the club. Thirty-two shooters participated in the matches, which were keenly contested. A fivebird match was divided by W. G. Rae (28yds), C. Seddon (28). A. E. Macredie (26) Roberts (24), F. E. McKenzie (22), W. Fairley (22). and G. Thrupp. Hamilton (22), with the possible. The chief match, for a handsome gold wristlet watch presented by Mr F. H. Seccombe, provided a most exciting finish, M. Pratt (29), G. Peach (27) F. M. Seccombe (26), S. Roberts (24), F. E. McKenzie (22) and W. Pellow (21), tieing with the possible of 10. Mr. Pellow was not eligible to win the trophy, and the donor, Mr. Seccombe, naturally stood down, leaving the other four to shoot off for the trophy. Peach missed the 13th bird, Pratt the 17tli, Roberts the 18th, McKenzie getting his bird and winning. The victory was a very popular one. as shooters recognise the great work done by Mr. McKenzie as president of the Acclimatisation Society. Mr. W. E. Parry, M.P., in making the presentation, referred to the sterling qualities of the donor and winner of the trophy. He complimented the shooters on the very fine shooting witnessed during the afternoon. The club’s annual picnic will be held tomorrow, the s.s. Condor leaving the ferry tee at 10 a.m. sharp.
