N.Z. ROWING CREW
EMPIRE GAMES REPS. PROTEST FROM OTAGO Press Association DUNEDIN, Wednesday. In regard to sending an eight-oar rowing crew to the Empire Games in Canada, the following resolution was passed by a meeting of the Otago Rowing Association last evening: “That this association does not approve of the decision of the selection committee of the New Zealand Amut6ur Association in choosing twelve men to go into training camp, and from these to select ten men for a crew to represent New Zealand at tile Empire Games, on account of the additional expense to be borne by the sporting community of the Dominion, and also that m selecting a professional jockey who we are led to believe is not connected m any way with the sport of rowing, and is also not of amateur status in the true sense of the word, as coxswain for the crew, the committee has not acted m the best interests of rowing or those connected with it. "Also that in the opinion of this association it is not necessary to send" -i coach when a member of the selected crew could act as such.” A copy of this resolution is to be n°t'nf<5 d f ed Vi * U a . fflliate <i associations, anVmatteV V ‘ e "' S ° n thls
