PIPER TO FLY SOUTH
VISITORS TAKE THE AIR AT MANGERE RECEPTION AT AIRDROME Bound for his home in Christchurch, Flying-Officer H. L. Piper will leave the Mangere Airdrome this afternoon in his Desoutter monoplane, and will stay the night at Hawera. Early tomorrow morning he intends to leave Hawera and fly direct to Blenheim, where he will refuel before continuing his journey over Kaikoura to Wigram Airdrome. Pie intends to return to Auckland next week and on the trip South will be accompanied by Mr. A. W. Price, of Christchurch. Members of the Auckland Aero Club extended a welcome to FlyingOfficers Kay and Piper at the Mangere Airdrome yesterday afternoon, when there was a large attendance. The two visitors were each provided with one of the club’s planes and took the air in company with Captain Seabrook, Captain Bloomfield, Flight-Lieu-tenant D. M. Allau, the chief instructor and Captain J. D. Hewett.
