NEW REGENT
“DYNAMITE” ON SATURDAY “It’s a Great Rife,” the delightfully amusing comedy drama introducing the famous Duncan Sisters, will, together with its accompanying programme, have its final presentation at the New Regent Theatre this evening. Cecil B. De Mille has covered a wide field of drama in his first talking picture, “Dynamite,” made for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which will be the new attraction at the Regent Theatre next Saturday. The explosion of a mine, and a scene of two girls talking, upsicre down, gave the Metro-Gold wyn-Mayer sound department much concern during their making. However, both episodes were — _ eminently successplosion scene placed ■grshowed a long mine .Jail etting down hun‘lUk dreds of tons of A|ti§k. coal to trap the MBBIfc: principals. Dozens of “light valves” were broken by sound impact, until recording engineer Douglas Shearer devised new methods which permitted the full concussion to be recorded without danger to the instruments. The “upside down” scene shows Julia Faye and Kay Johnson in conversation while rolling over and over in huge aero wheels. It is the first scene of its kind ever taken. “Dynamite,” which is by Jeanie McPherson, is decidedly modern, and apart from the Biblical type of vehicle which De Mille has done recently. It has bathtubs, pretty girls, wild parties and smart clothes. A brilliant supporting programme will also be presented.
