Maori Boy and The Gold Cup
CHANCE AT FEUDING OTHER AUCKLANDERS ENGAGED Fresh from his treble win at Whangarei, Maori Boy should prove a worthy representative of Auckland ,n the Manchester Gold Cup at Feilding on Saturday. This is the main event on the card of the Feilding Jockey Club’s jubilee fixture on Saturday and Monday, the race beinp decided on opening day. It ja difficult to realise that Maori Boy is i>oV within half a stone of Paganelli, but the distance is jx. mile and auuarter. Maori Boy will be racing on a course that will suit him admirably, and as his usual pilot. L. Dulieu, will be in the saddle, he should go a good race. Smart Hack Sprinter Equitant is a speedy hack, and if s he is-sent for the* Ongo Hack in preference to the open seven she is going tuke all sorts of beating. Among iier opponents will be Perennis and Kuapatu. The open sprint, the Mangaone Han-
•Heap, presents an open appearance, hi if Arikinui is at his best he should rac prominently.
Etohi Rangi, third to Royal Finance And Peruse in the first division of the Maiden at To Rapa last week, should co well in a similar event on Saturday next. In the Onepuki Hack Handicap form points strongly to the greatly-im-proved Tunbridge. The following horses may baexpected to be heavily supported in their engagements on Saturday: Kawakawa Hurdles. —Zippor, Rouex and Whenuanui. Ongo Hack.— Equitant, Hunting Boy and Perennis. Manchester Hold Cup.— Maori Boy, Cashier and Pahu. Maiden Stakes.— Etehi Rangi, Pakitcre and Spearform. Taonui Hack Handicap.— Banbridge and Potoaform. Mangaone Handicap.— Arikinui, Ben* zora and Consent. Onepulii Hack Handicap.—Tunbridge, Austerity and Grattus. Halcomho Handicap.— Ruanui, Juggle and Keddar. The acceptances are as follow: 11 S() KAWAKAWA HURDLES
Stops Quickly Kaihoro retains her speed and will 5* hard at Waipukurau. though the ills t furlong might find her out. Go Close On* who should go close to collectfirst prize and dividend at WasPukurau is Manifesto, who was most Unfortunate in his only start at Hastings. Also due to appear at Waipukurau on Faster Alonday are Toboggan and Fitzquex, both of whom are worth **»plng in mind. _____
THE SWELL
RECENT FORM WAS GOOD BELLE STAR AND TOURIST TOO If he can reproduce his last ! month's Manawatu form, The Swell should do well at the Wai- ! rarapa meeting on Saturday and Monday at the Tauherenikau course. i This horse comes from It. Johnson’s Now Plymouth stable, and the team should win more than one race at the fixture. Other horses from this stable engaged on Saturday are Ridgemount and the ex-Auckland filly Belle Stai\ The latter should win at Tauherenikau. One horse that may bother The Swell is the promoted hack Grecian, who is a pretty fair sort of handicap horse in the making. Tourist’s recent form has been impressive, and in a comparatively weak field in the Tuhitarata Hack he should more than hold his own. Autopay This Time? After liis two dashing displays at Awapuni it was difficult to account for the two failures that went against Autopay at Masterton the other day. He is in the Nursery on Saturday, and perhaps this speedy youngster will show that his form was wrong. Two smart hacks from the one stable, Werata and Ben I-Jur, should dominate the market on the Mokai Hack, while Hun kissed reads well in : a weak field in the Ferry Hack. I A few that will be keenly supported on Saturday are the following: Newmarket Handicap: Mandy, Ridgemount and Dobbin. Ferry Hack Handicap: Sunkissed, Patearoa and Waterspear. Faster Handicap: The Swell, Grecian and Spearmiss. AVairarapa Nursery Handicap: Autopay, Open Cheque and Jason. Tuhitarata Hack Handicap: Tourist, General Gas and Money Mint. Martinborough Handicap: Belle Star, Roi de Val and Maui. Mokai Hack Handicap: Werata-Ben Hur bracket and Dainty Ways. Maiden Hack: Emotion, Myola and ; Dancing Star.
The acceptances are as follow:
Toxcuma Ready Toxeuma is very well, notwithstanding his defeat by Great Charter and ho should run well at Fllerslie if a suitable rider has been engaged for him. His trainer was in difficulties concerning a rider last week, but R. S. Bagby will have the ride. Will Improve In the contest for the Hawke's Bay Stakes Cylinder was badly beaten by Toxeuma and he will have to do better if he is to win at Fllerslie on Saturday. However, lie was open to improvement at Hastings and might make sufficient advance to vanquish the opposition. Handicap Horses High Court and Mountain Heath both ran well enough in the principal handicaps at Hastings to have firstclass chances in whatever races they contest at Faster. They are engaged in the chief events at Feilding ana AVaipukurau. Don Quixote The defeat of l>on Quixote at Hastings was unpalatable to a lot. of people, who over-rated his Wellington form. However, it is not a strong Held he is engaged in at Ellerslie on Saturday and with H. Gray to assist him it is hoped that he will do better. Ho may bother Vail a_nd Count Palatine in the St. Leger on Monday. RACING FIXTURES
