BUS STOPPING-PLACES

CLEARER DEFINITION WANTED That bus stopping-places should be defined by the painting of footpath kerbings for 30 feet was a suggestion made to the Auckland Transport Board yesterday by the chief traffic inspector, Mr. G. K. Hogan. The inspector said that in view of increased traffic congestion the , time appeared opportune for immediate action in defining bus stops. He suggested that the cost of painting and maintaining the signs should be borne by the board and other services on the respective route. The manager to the board, Mr. A. E. Ford, reported that should the traffic department fix the stops in appropriate places the board’s buses would observe them. He recommended, however, that no cost should be assumed by the board.
