BREATH WASTED With 40,000 names in the directory of available screen players in Hollywood, Director Frank Borzage founl his softest task during the making of John McCormack’s first talking picture was to secure 750 men and women to attend three studio concerts given by the tenor. They appeared in evening dress and were paid 7* to 15 dollars a concert for listening. The camera and microphone recorded the proceedings as part of the The night of the first concert just before the microphones were switch®* on, some assistant director picked UP his megaphone and shouted to the P* 1 ® audience: “Be sure and look inter* ested!”
