FINAL BROADSIDES
WELLINGTON TEAM HERE WESTERN SPRINGS TONIGHT Looking very fit and confident of success in tonight’s broadsiding meeting at_ Wos tern Springs stadium, the four \\ ellington riders who are to race here this evening in the first interprovincial challenge match series arrived by the Limited this morning. The quartet from the “Windy City” are Wally Kilmister, Clarrie Tonks, Lofty” Naylor and Bill Harvie, the foremost riders at Kilbirnie Stadium throughout the past season. A series of races between these four and the Auckland team, Alf Mattson. Ben Bray, Bert Coyle and Jack Garmson, will be the feature of this final programme. Twenty-one events will be run off, the meeting beginning at 7.30 p.m. with the two heats of a handicap for novice riders only. These will be men who have not previously appeared before the public. The Wellington men went round the track this morning in good times, and made several adjustments to their •machines to enable them to be at the top of their speed on the new surface. Kilmister is the only one who has ridden here previously, on that occasion setting track records for both the lap and the mile. Fast times are expected in his match race with Alf Mattson, who defeated him in Wellington recently for the Dominion championship.
