ROAD BOARD ELECTION
PRIVATE BUSES PROBABLE Saturday, May was fixed upon by ino Mount Koskili Road Hoard, at Us meeting last evening, as the date for tho election of five members in place ••£ Messrs. E. F. Jones, J. Honald S. 1 Cloodall. K. A. Pearce and K. W. Sanft. who retire by rotation. The annual statutory meeting of ratepayers is to bo held on Thursday, May 1. Tho Transport Board wrote to say that it could not accede to the request lor tho establishment of a motor-bus .-•ervlco between Royal Oak and the Mount Albert tramway service, bul would favourably consider applications irom private operators for such a service. It was also prepared, in addition, to make the Waikowhai area available for private buses. As the latter clause was not understood, the Transport Hoard is to be asked whether it intended to Include tho routes from the Mount Ed< n terminus, Greenwood’s Corner and Buckland Road to Waikowhai Park. Mr. G. E. Tanaley. an old member and ex-chairman of the board, who was absent through illness, was accorded a vote of sympathy. A donation of C 5 r.s was voted to tlio Obstetrics Iwfti after hearing an appeal by Mrs. W. Jellie and Or. MarIfarrt Knlrli r.
