WESTFIELD STOCK SALE WESTFIELD, 2.30 p.m. The alteration of the sale day on account of the h’olidays affected both the attendance and the number of entries at the Westfield fat stock sale today. Values were very firm at late rates. | Best ox and young heifer made up to 37s a hundred; best cow to 33s a hundred; boner cows sold around 19s Lo 20s a hundred. The beef entry was not drawn from over such a wide range as last week near-Auckland graziers being the principal vendors. Although the attendance of smaller butchers was not large, buying orders had apparently been sent out with deputies or contract men, for there was a very firm demand on late levels ior all well finished sorts, and there was a decided tendency to pav premium prices for specially well finished beef. Exporters took little interest in the sale, buying only a few runner and -boner cows which were not wanted by the butchers at around 19s to 20s a hundred. Top price of the day was secured for a line of 10 extra choice prime solid hut not exceptionally big boned, steers on account B. Reid. Waerenga, which made up to £ls 5s for a pen which went to W. B. Lawson, Mount Eden and A. E. Rossiter, Papatoetoe. Lwo trucks of choice prime steers on account H. E. Reed. Waerenga Pinde from £l3 15s to £ls for a pen vhich went to the Auckland Meat Company.
