A.A.A. ACTIVITIES

EASTER DUTIES The signposting patrol has returned from an extensive tour of the Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, East Coast districts, Taupo and Rotorua, where he has erected a number of new signs for the guidance of motorists. There is an amount of work to be carried out in the Silverdale and Alkie’s Bay area before Easter, after which a further trip will he made through the North Auckland territory. The tour ing manager left Auckland on Thursday, and after visiting Taumarunui •and Ohura is travelling through the Tangarakau Gorge route to Stratfosd, and will return via Awkino' and Mokau. EASTER TOURING SERVICE It is the aim of the Auckland Automobile Association to extend its service to all parts of the district, and to provide facilities for all members. During the Easter holiday period, patrols will be stationed at Hamilton, Te Ivuiti, Rotorua, Paeroa, Wellsford and in Auckland. From these centres they will daily patrol various main roads in all directions. If fine weather preavils, no trouble is anticipated, but in the event of heavy rain, these patrols will be in the position to give invaluable assistance to motorists. During this period numerous country motorists visit Auckland, and numbers pass through on their way either north or south. An endeavour is therefore being made to have information available almost continuously. Good Friday is observed* as a close holiday by the association’s staff, but information will be available from the touring- manager’s private telephone, No. 24-818, during this time. On Easter Saturday, the information bureau will be open all day, and on Sunday from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Information will be available in the evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the touring manager’s telephone. On Easter Monday the staff will be in attendance at the office between 9 a.m. and noon, and 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., information being available at other times from the touring manager’s private telephone.
