PLANE FOR TAUMARUNUI
NEW COMPANY FORMED PURCHASE OF MACHINE From Our Own Correspondent TAUMARUNUI, Monday. After 18 months’ negotiations the company known as Taumarunui Airways, Ltd., has succeeded in securing its first airplane, and the machine will arrive here from Wellington during the Easter holidays. It will be flown from Wellington, with Mr. W. H. Lett (late of the Goodwin-Chichester Avia- | tion Company) as pilot, and Mr. R. F. I Harris, of Taumarunui, as a passenger. / The plane is an Avro-Avian model, exactly similar in design to that used by Mr. Hinkler on his great flight from England to Australia. By a special arrangement with the Racing Club the company has been able to secure a good landing area on ; the racecourse, and the ground has been fully prepared, and a hangar is being erected.
