. Lawrence Gray reveals a splendid singing voice in “Marianne,*' which is now playing at the Crystal Palace Theatre as Marion Davies's first talking feature for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Although a popular leading man for several seasons, few directors knew of his singing ability until he sang at a benefit performance in Hollywood Robert Z. Leonard, who directed the Davies picture, promptly gave him a sound test which led to his signing for the role opposite the star. Included in the supporting cast of the new musical-talkie are Cliff (TJukulele Ik,e) Edwards, Benny Rubin, Robert Edeson and others of “'note.
