CYCLING DISPUTE

MANUKAU CLUB’S REPLY DISCUSSION IN MAY The following communication has been dispatched to the secretary c*r the N.Z.A.A.A. by the New Zealand Union of Cyclists, as a result of the proposals tabled at Saturday’s conference. “At the informal discussion of the proposals which followed the retirement of your delegation, the matter was referred to a meeting to be held on tho following Monday evening. “At this meeting held on April 14 a resolution was carried that the proposals be referred to the Manukau Ama - teur Cycling Club for a report from its general meeting, and that further consideration be given on receipt of this report. “The meeting* of the Manukau Club will be held during the first week of May, according to the constitution of the club. The reply of the executives of the union, of its Auckland Centre, and of the Manukau Club, will be furnished within a few day’s of that time. “We trust that any activities of our organisations in the meantime will in no way prejudice your attitude toward uc.” The proposals are that the Manukau Club should link up with the Auckland Centre, N.Z.A.A.A., modified as below: (1) Change of name to New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association. (2) Committee of council, consisting of one cy'dist delegate for each centre. The council thus to be half athletic and half cycling. (3) That a cycling committee be set up to control all cy*cling track races, road races, and championships under the jurisdiction of the particular centre of the N.Z.A.A.A. The cycle committee to consist of delegates from the various affiliated cy'ding clubs in the proportion, of one representative to every 12 active cycling members or part thereof, together with the president, vice-presi-dent, secretary and one elected member of the particular centre; no club to have representation unless it has at least four active cycling members. In all cases the committee’s decision to be passed on to the executive of the particular centre for approval. The cycling committee to elect its own secretary, who shall keep records of all meetings.
