RAID FROM THE AIR
TWO-UP GAME ROUTED BY POLICE PLANES GUARDED BY BARBED WIRE United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright Reed. 10.30 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The ingenuity of the police resulted in the discovery of a large gambling school .at Redfern. An airplane was used to direct the detectives to a place in the scrub where a large number of men were playing two-up in a cleverly camouflaged ring. The school was barricaded with wire entanglements, in which branches of scrub were twined. Upon the approach of the police, the scouts posted round the ground began to wave white cloths and then a smoke screen was sent up and the men were soon fleeing in all directions. The planes, flying low, joined in the chase. Eight men were arrested and many articles of clothing and two bicycles were left behind by the decamping players.
