NGATARINGA AND TAKAPUNA RESULTS The Ngataringa Lawn Tennis Club held its annual prize-giving “At Home" on Saturday afternoon. The president, Mr. C. Browne, gave a brief address and the Mayor of Devonport. Mr. E. Aldridge, presented the prizes. Following are the results of the club championships:— Women’s championship, Miss K. Johnson; women’s championship doubles, Miss H. Lewin and Miss K. Johnson; Kolin trophy for women’s handicap singles, Miss M. Waddell; women’s Stewart Dawson Cup open handicap singles. Miss N. Hughes: women’s handicap doubles. Miss K. Smith and Miss P. Wilson; girls’ junior cup handicap, under 21, Miss Z. Smith: men’s championship singles, Mr. R. Haggett: men’s championship doubles, Air. IT. Anderson and Air. .1. AlcFarlane; men’s handicap singles. Mr. Haggett; men’s handicap doubles, Air. Dance and Mr. Haggett; handicap combined doubles. Mr. Haggett and Airs. Rule; combined championship doubles, Aliss Al. Waddell and Air. 11. Anderson; Ngataringa Shield handicap, open to boys under 21, R. Dance; boys’ cup, under 13, K. Knowles. Bowden, G —4, G—2. Men’s doubles handicap: N. and D. Hume beat Everton and Gamble, 7—5, 6—2. Men’s singles handicap, final: Gambitbeat Bartrani, 2—6. 6— 2, 6—3. Women’s singles handicap, final: Mrs. Wiseman beat Airs. Alowbray, 6—5, 6—2. Combined doubles handicap: Mrs. Howe and Hume heat Air. and Mrs. Sullivan, 60 to 56.
The school-children’s events, which have been in progress on the Takapuna lawn for some weeks, were finished on Saturday, and resulted as follow:—Girls' championship, semi-final: Alinna Yarnton beat Margaret Bartrum, Nancy Clark boat Emily Yarnton. Final: Minna Yarnton beat Nancy Clark. Boys’ championship: Tony Blair beat Leo Amodeo. Boys’ doubles, semi-final: Tony Blair and Leo Amodeo beat Jack West and G. Yarnton; E. Everton and Stewart Foot beat Fascoe and O’Donnell. Final: Blair and Amodeo beat Everton and Foot. Girls' doubles, final: Won by AI. Collins and AI. Goddard. METHODISTS’ WIN A match between the Takapuna Club olid the Takapuna Methodist Club was played on Saturday, and resulted in an j easy win for the Methodists by nine games to one. The results of the sets were as follow, with Alethodist names first:—Women’s singles: Mrs. Thomas lost to Miss Bestic, Airs. Everist beat Aliss L,orie. Men’s singles: G. Collins beat Gamble, Nicholson beat Bartrum. Alen's d< übles: Nicholson and G. Collins beat Gamble and Bartrum; Richards aud Preston beat Brown and Best. Combined doubles: Mrs. Cameron and Preston beat Miss Gamble and Brown: Airs. Jones and Richards beat Airs. Davidson and Best. Women’s doubles: Airs. Thomas and Mrs. Forrest beat Miss Bestic and Aliss Lorie; Mrs. Jones and Airs. Cameron beat Airs. Davidson and Aliss Gamble. BIRKENHEAD-NORTHCOTE GAMES Tho club members’ competition of the Birkenhead and Northcote Tennis Club was completed on Saturday. Good play was seen in all games. Excellent entries have been received for the Easter tournament, and the club committee is busily engaged in making final preparations for the event.
