“THE LOVE PARADE” For the second time within the short space of a year has Maurice Chevalier appeared in Auckland to charm people with his personality. Chevalier's new picture, “The Love Parade,” is greater in charm, songs, investiture and story than his previous picture, and the audience at the premier© loudly applauded the first appearance of Chevalier on the screen. An even greater success is being scored with Love Parade.” - Chevalier in this picture is a young attache at the Paris Embassy of the mythical kingdom of Sylvania. I-lis philanderings with women calls forth censure and he is sent back to his country to report to his queen. Eventually he becomes Prince Consort, only to find that he has no power, even over the servants. How he turns the tables is full of laughs and intriguing situations. Jeanette MacDonald, a bea.uty from the stage, plays the role of the Queen, while the comedy relief is provided by Lupino Lane and Lillian Roth. A collection of brilliant shorter talkie items thus completes the programme. VICTORIA, DEVONPORT Florenz Ziegfeld, Mary Eaton, Eddie Cantor, Helen Morgan and Rudy Vallee. Picture these names in association with a moving picture, and have some idea of the impressive magnitude ' and spectacular magnificence of the Ziegfeld Revue, “Glorifying the American Girl,” Paramount’s all-talking, singing and dancing special, now at the Victoria Theatre, Devonport. Florenz Ziegfeld’s first screen revue, “Glorifying the American Girl,” was supervised personally by the great glorifier himself. Mary Eaton, premiere danseuse of a number of Ziegfeld shows and the leading lady in the recent comedy screen success, “The Coconuts,” has the star role in this glittering pageant.
