SIN, DISEASE, DEATH

THEIR REALITY QUESTIONED “Are Sin, Disease and Death Real?” was the subject of the lesson-sermon jn First Church of Christ, Scientist, yesterday. The golden text was from Luke ix.. 1. 2. “He called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.” Among the citations was the following from the Bible: “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man.” The lesson-sermon also included the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, “The Christian Scientist has enlisted to lessen evil, disease and death; and he will overcome them by understanding their nothingness and the allness of God, or good. Sickness to him is no less a temptation than is sin, and he heals them both by understanding God’s power over them. The Christian j Scientist knows that they are errors i of belief which truth can and will destroy.”
