Suburban Handicap Baron Derby, evidently improved with Thursday’s race, went to the front early in the Suburban Handicap, to win after a bard finish with Lightfoot and Lady Yvonne. Highland Derby, Lightfoot and Bonniewah were nil in the picture along the back behind the leader, with Lady Yvonne tangling well hack. Bonniewah put on a fast run at the home turn into second place but left her feet. Baron Derby was tiring hut hung on to stall off the final challenges of Lightfoot and Lady Yvonne, who came from a long way back. Highland Derby stopped in the race to lln i sl^ fourth » followed by Bonniewah and Musical. Liverpool Handicap Logans Pride won the Liverpool Handicap in good style, and was -well handled by D. Watts. He was in a good position early, clearing out from the field three furlongs from home, to win easily. Kerribrao was the early leader to pass the half-mile oost in 1.12, followed by Zealous, Warrcnorc, Logans King and Logan’s Pride. With a mile reached in 2.21, Zealous was wiHi Kerri brae just in front of Logan’s Fride and Warrenore. The mile and .a-half station was passed in 3.31, with Logan’s Pride close on Kerribrae’s lit els. At the turn Logan’s Pride was well clear of Wakefield, with Great Author moving up fast on the outer. Ihe latter challenged in the run home but failed to overhaul Logan's Pilde who won nicely, with ICerribrae in third berth. Next were Wakefield, Speed reins, Warrenore and the favourite. All Red. Stewards’ Saddle Handicap Tawa King went out smartly in the Stewards saddle heat from Tiny Rose, rumahaka and Wee Thorpe. Along the back F’liton moved up fast into third place, with Itita Thorpe and Good Lady following. Tiny Rose was first into the straight pursued by Flitou, Rita i.horpe (on the outside), Good Lady and Short Story. Rita Thorpe made a strenuous effort to overhaul Tiny Rose, but failed by a length. Fliton was a couple of lengths away third, followed by Short Story, Good Lady and Taua King. Approaching the straight Pumahaka fell and brought down Musical. Balance Handicap A good pool in the Balance Trot saw Kangitero favourite over Brian Bingen with Peter Eyre, Eva Beta both well *«T p ? ortea * Blue and Gold, penalised 48yds, was soon in the lead and made a fine effort to win all the way. At the end of a mile she was closely attended by Eva Reta, Peter Eyre, Rangilero and Ockley AVood, and this batch were in close formation at the home turn, where Brian Bingen, who had lost a good position along the back, was travelling fast on the outer.
