AFTER DESERTING FROM THE CITY OF NEW YORK, at Dunedin, the mother of these kittens “signed U p" with the Port Hardy 18 months ago. On the voyage from London to Auckland she presented the ship with a family of five. Although the cat apparently shirked the trip to the chilly Polar regions, her family was born i n the ship’s freezer.
