NOTEWORTHY PROGRAMMES A splendid recital was given by Mr. Alexander Watson, the well-known English entertainer, in the Town Hall concert chamber yesterday afternoon, a noteworthy programme including the Quarrel Scene from “Romeo and Juliet.” Other recitations included an excerpt from “David Copperfield,” and verses by Kipling, Drinkwater, A. A. Milne. Whitcomb, Barrie, Mark Twain and Riley. Another recital will be given this evening when the Forum Scene from “Julius Caesar,” including not only the famous orations of Brutus and Antony but also a graphic representation of the frenzied Roman populace, will be presented. Other items include an incident from “David Copperfield” and verse by * Kipling, Masefield, A. A. Milne, and Hilaire Belloc. A wide range will be covered at the final recital on Monday evening when scenes from the works of J. M. Barrie, a selection from Kipling, Tennyson’s “The Defence of Lucknow,” and humorous items by Graham, Herbert and Mark Twain will be given. On Tuesday evening M. Watson will give a recital at Hamilton.
