CYCLING CARNIVAL
EASTER SATURDAY NIGHT The cycling and running carnival of the Auckland Centre, New Zealand Union of Cyclists, to be held on Easter Saturday night, promises to be another big success. For the first time foot races will appear at the Western Springs Stadium. Besides the House and Pascoe Cups there will be two attempts on motor-paced records by Angus Mackie. Miss Norma Peterson will make an attempt to lower the half-mile time and unpaced champion Whitten his memorable kilometre record. A feature of the meeting will be the interprovincial match. The Wellington “forces” (Foote, Bray, Stavely) will be met by H. Dwight, Roberts and Aldred in three sprints of a lap for points, 2 and 1, and in a paced mile heat for 4. 3,2, 1 points. This match will be most interesting as it will provide the only “contact” this season by which the standard of riding may be compared with that of the South. A junior match has been arranged between Beart, Colman, R. L. Francis, Gordon and Oxton. Mr. W. K. Francis, of Papakura, and Mr. Gus Paul have donated trophies.
