THREATS WITH RAZOR
ALLEGATIONS MADE BY POLICE REMAND IN CUSTODY Ernest William Armstrong, an insurance agent, aged 49, was charged at the Police Court this morning with assaulting Leslie Armstrong by attempting to cut his throat with a razor last evening. There was a second charge of trespassing on his wife’s premises during the currency of a separation order made by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., yesterday. Armstrong,, whose face . bore the marks of injuries, appeared dazed in the dock and did not seem to realise what was happening. At the request of Senior-Sergeant Powell, he was remanded until Thursday. The senior-sergeant intimated that the charge, which; in its present form, is indictable, would probably be reduced to common assault. According to the police report, the separation order was made yesterday. It is alleged that accused went to the groeer’s store where the son, Leslie Armstrong, was employed and was abusive to him. In the evening the woman locked herself and her son in the house, and it is further alleged that Armstrong broke in through a window at the back and threatened his son with a razor. It" is stated that he was captured and held until the arrival of Constable Baker, who arrested him.
