CAR RUNS AMOK
WOMAN KNOCKED DOWN IN QUEEN STREET SLIGHTLY INJURED A sensation was caused in Queen Street last when a small motor-car containing two men and a girl dashed along the footpath and knocked down Mrs. Hilda Burgess, of 3 Surrey Street, Grey Lynn. The car, after striking a safety zone in Queen Street between Fort and Shortland Streets, dashed across the road, mounted the pavement and struck . Mrs. Burgess. Missing several persons by inches, it continued its wild career. Reaching the intersection of Queen Street and Shortland Street, it shot into the road anti narrowly missed a sailor, who ran after the car and attempted to board it. Travelling rapidly up Queen Street, it turned into Wyndham Street and was lost to sight. Tho St. John Ambulance was called and removed the injured woman to the Public Hospital, where she was found to be suffering from minor injuries. Her condition is not serious.
