NOT SPEAKING

Rumpus Between and Sub-Centre APOLOGY ASKED FOR At the present time, the Wellington ' Amateur Athletic Association and the Wairarapa Sub-Centre are not on speaking terms as the result of a letter received by the provincial centre from ; the secretary ot' the sub-centre (writes The Sun's Wellington correspondent). It arose over the recent visit of Golding and Lermond. Wairarapa desired both athletes to visit it but the Wellington Centre found it only possible to j send Golding. “Is it the practice of centre officials to make rash promises which they have i no intention of fulfilling?” said one ! portion of the letter. This caused the ! Wellington officials to “get their backs up.” The Wairarapa Sub-Centre has now been asked to apologise and to withdraw the offensive letter. So far no reply has been received to the ulti- 1 matum.
