ON ADDINGTON TRACK MAIWHARITPS EFFORT THIS MORNING’S WORK-OUTS Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The Addington track was in very fast order this morning. Good trials were witnessed by Vendome (without straps). The Shrew' and Feterwah. who were worked over a mile and a-half. Feterwah put in a break early and onco in line for home The Shrew finished on well to take a narrow decision from Vendome. The trotter Feterwah was some lengths back. He is carrying plenty of condition and can hardly be at his best by Easter.

Kreisler was not extended in a twomile unhoppled essay. On account of his handicap he will not be a starter on the first day of the Addington meeting. Master Audo proved a cut above Young Carbine and Auclominion in a mile and a-half brush, finishing’ up several lengths to the good of Young Carbine. Audominion broke with . a furlong to go. A 2.20 gait was registered by Master Audo, and he did it very nicely, giving a much improved display on two previous workouts. Eringo was worked a mile and a-half, maintaining a level gait throughout'. Native Prince put up good figures for 12 furlongs in the straps, but he did not pace with the same resolution that characterised his unhoppled two-mile essay on Tuesday. Maiwhariti Pleases The titbit of sprints was supplied by Maiwhariti, Concliff, Rey Logan and Lingfield over a mile and a quarter. Lingfield led out from Rey Logan, Maiwhariti and Concliff at about 12 yards intervals. These positions were unaltered until the last half-mile was entered on, when Maiwhariti made a dab on the outside of Lingfield, and on reaching the straight he drew out to a comfortable victory from Lingfield, with Rey Logan and Concliff close up. It was a smart piece of work, Maiwhariti registering slightly worse than his handicap, 2.43. He is an altogether different horse to the Maiwhariti that raced at Dunedin, as at no stage of the try-out did he resort to his old capers of tangling. Esbino was given plenty of work, running out a mile and a half in round about 3.40. • Ambleside. although eased toward the close of a mile and a half spin, registered very smart figures for one of his class. Lord Matchlight Tomorrow Lord Matchlight and Sodium rattled over a mile and a half in good time. Ijeing assisted by Salient, who stood them up a big start and held them safe at the end. Salient registered 3.26 and could have done a lot better. D. Withers’s pair were naturally outclassed by their companion, but it is evident that Lord Matchlight will be ready to give an improved account of himself at Hororata on Saturday. Jolly Pet had a start from Tom Thumb, and finished up a two-mile encounter slightly ahead of him in very good time. Jolly Fet went through without straps and staved on much better than usual. Tom Thumb appeared to be going well within himself at the finish, and if he goes as well off the front of the Easter Handicap the back division will know they have been to the races. Nelson Boy had Carmel to accompany him for a two-mile go, the pair finishing up together after registering nothing better than a 2.24 clip. Flying Prince set out to go a mile and a-quarter with a saddle compan- j ion, but the latter was pulled up after j a mile, and Aquilin joined Flying • Prince to bring him home. When i going well less than a furlong from i the post Flying Prince tangled and | spoiled what portended to be a good j v ork-ouL
